May 19th Rifle Program Newsletter

Sorry it took so long.  Season start-up is my excuse and I'm stickin' to it.  Thirty-one shooters joined us on a perfect day on the range and fired 49 matches.

Roger Burdick, Calvin Johnson, and Steve Shauver all earned gold pins in Rimfire Sporter.  In fact, Mr. Burdick earned 2.  Good shooing, especially for early in the season.

Welcome to the shooters who joined us for the first time:  Susan Vicars, Charles Rasch, Devon Dale, Ronald Mitchell, John Farris, Mathew Wineland, Mark Kocin, Ryan Kodramaz, and Andrew Brush.  We hope you had fun and will join us in the future.

There was some confusion at registration with regard to reservations and Garand scorecards, for which I apologize.  Our registrars have a PhD and a Masters Degree between them, and are clearly over-educated for the position.  We'll keep training them and will do better in the future.  I promise.

There were some disqualifications, one for shooting the wrong COF and two for unsigned scorecards.  The shooter is responsible for knowing which COF he or she is firing and for signing the scorecard before submitting it.  Just like golf.  Early season glitches.

We're going to do it all again June 19.  Bring a friend who has not shot with us before and one of you will get a free match.  No novice shooters, please.  We have only 24 slots for the Garand matches and 30 slots for Rimfire Sporter.  I recommend reserving your slots in advance.  Email me at dhelwick4@att.net or call at 440-354-9984.  Please don't wait until the Friday before the match.  That's too late.

C-ya on the range.
