August 20 Rifle Program Newsletter

Competitors had to deal with thick fog getting to Crooked Creek for last Saturday's matches.  Fourteen made it and shot 25 matches.  The fog burned off to reveal a hot, sunny day for CMP Rimfire Sporter and NRA Smallbore Silhouette competition.  Thank you for joining us.

We welcomed two competitors making their debut at Crooked Creek:  Joyce Fern and Trevor Fern.  We hope you had fun and that you'll join us again.

Several Silhouette match scorecards were apparently not turned in, so I cannot post the results.  Competitors, please remember to turn in your completed, signed, scorecards to Registration following your match so we can post your scores.

Here's what's up next at Crooked Creek:

Saturday, 3 September.  CMP John C. Garand and Service Rifle.  M1 Carbines, M1903 Springfields, and other vintage military rifles are welcome to compete, too.  The perfect way to start your Labor Day Weekend is with a rifle match.  So, come out and join us.

Saturday, 17 September.  CMP Rimfire Sporter and Smallbore Silhouette.  This will be our final silhouette match of the season.

We are limited to 4 competitors per silhouette relay, 8 per Garand/Service Rifle relay, and 10 per Rimfire Sporter relay, so advance reservations are recommended.

Join me in thanking our volunteers:  Lynda Green, Boris Kodrich, Erwin Kodrich, Geoff Kotzar, Greg Lane, and Tom Smith.  Without their dedication, we'd have no matches.  Also, thanks to Lynda Green for stepping in as Match Director so I could take a weekend off to do something else.

The season is not over yet, so come on out and join us.
