June 18 Rifle Program Newsletter

The pessimistic weather forecast turned out to be wrong and we had good weather for a rifle match.  Twenty-one shooters joined us for both CMP Rimfire Sporter and Smallbore Silhouette matches.  A total of 24 Rimfire matches and 14 Silhouette matches were fired.  More folks found out what a challenge Silhouette is and we filled 14 of 16 match slots.

Unfortunately, for the second time this season we were forced to disqualify a Rimfire competitor for having been awarded an unearned Achievement Pin based on an incorrectly added scorecard.  It is the competitor's responsibility to ensure the accuracy of his or her scorecard before signing and submitting it to registration at the end of the match.  There are plenty of calculators available to help out.  We accept scorecards as is when handing out pins, but the stats computer missed nothing when I'm compiling results.

Saturday, 16 July  We will be hosting CMP Rimfire Sporter and CMP Garand/Service Rifle matches at Crooked Creek.  Call or email me to reserve space on the firing line.

Let's hope summer is more accommodating than spring was.

C-ya on the range.
